A Blank Canvas

Have you ever imagined yourself as a blank canvas? Something that has no content but can easily be filled with many new things.  Through the eyes of an artist, a blank canvas would be a perfect gift to apply his painting skills, but in the realm of life it signifies nothingness - an empty space, a void.

There is nothing more dreadful than having the feeling of desolation. Male and female may easily plunge into emotional state that may be fleeting or permanent. There is no exemption when it comes to emotions. Both genders are equally susceptible to solitude and anyone may easily fall into this abyss unknowingly. It is a state of realization that what you are, where you are and what you have are insignificant, therefore, all you are is just a blank canvas.

Many of us have been through this frame of mind. One way or another, as we trek our journey in life, somehow we feel the need to be “painted on”. We long for enchanting different hues to complement each other and make a perfect rainbow of colors. We yearn for splashes of prints and paints to form samples of different shapes. Deep inside us, is a yearning for something or SOMEONE to help us complete a masterpiece of our lives. Realization is not that easy. In fact, it is even more surreal. Neither an ordinary thing nor a conventional person will be able to initiate the masterpiece that we are still trying to be. A stroke of luck as it may have seemed to some, but we know that it is such a blessing to have finally found the Master Painter of life – Jesus.

Even to this date, every one of us who has been called to serve our purpose is an unfinished painting. We all started from being a blank canvas, but now slowly and wonderfully in the process of being completely painted on.  All shades of colors of love, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance are splashed upon our palette for everyone to see. Yet at times, some tints are lighter or darker depending on the season.

Some paintings are gifted with the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gift of healing and some with the working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, and diverse kinds of tongues and interpretations of tongues.

Not all paintings are the same, but all are created and molded to perfection. JESUS, our Master Painter, has yet to make his finale brush stroke into our lives’ canvas.

We are all still a work in progress. Our journey is not yet completed.
