Tiaong, Quezon- As the song goes “There is no stopping in serving God”, OPIF Inc. Philippines opens Sector 9 as it finally appoints Pastor Erwin Gaviola as its resident Pastor here in Brgy. Lalig, in this Municipality on December 12, 2020. This is the second church in a row being inaugurated next only to Alang-Alang Leyte in September amid the COVID-19 threat that halted divine services worldwide.

“Finally, after being a cell group for two years we are now called OPIF Philippines- Sector 9. It just started with a simple desire of my aunt, Sis. Ricel De Alday of OPIF- Abu Dhabi to share the Word of God to our family, relatives, neighbors, and friends. She then asked help from Pastor Solomon Belic, the resident pastor of OPIF Laguna if he could give a series of Bible studies in Tiaong to which he immediately agreed. His wife, Sis. Marilyn Belic, Bro. Loy and some young people of Sector 3 were with him when the cell group started. The care for the Lord’s flock in Tiaong was later on entrusted to Pastor Erwin Gaviola, who’s now the church’ resident pastor,” Bro. Kemp Jayzer E. De Alday, a 17-year old Youth Leader of OPIF Tiaong fondly recalled.

When asked in an interview about what are his thoughts on being eyed to be a Deputy Pastor in Tiaong, Bro. Kemp answered, “I honestly started just following orders from the family to being in love with the truth about the Oneness of God and finally came up to a decision that I will fully commit myself in supporting the work of God in Tiaong. With the possible great task before me, I feel a little scared but very much excited of what God has planned for me. Once when I was young, I was assigned as a leader but I failed to do the task expected of me. After that, I told myself that I will never mess up another opportunity especially if it is from the Lord.”

Subsequently, installation and Oath-taking rites for the new Pastor was officiated by Pastor Martino Cortan, OPIF Chairman Emeritus in the virtual presence of Pastor Emiliano Neric, BOD Vice Chairman, Pastor Marilyn Neric, BOD Finance, Pastor Vergilio Rendon, BOD Missionary, Pastor Fernan Planas, BOD Home Mission and Pastor Victor Notario Sr., Overseer of OPIF Philippines. All delivered words encouragement to the church. The event which lasted for 4 hours was also attended by some Pastors and Elders from different sectors.

In his first message as the official Pastor of OPIF Tiaong, he emphasized on the difference of being religious and being Godly. He stated, “Choose to be Godly in which you choose to be renewed by God daily, to which the real transformation can be seen in your lives, deeply rooted in the Word of God, and enduring until the end.” In his preaching, he also narrated his journey with Pastor Solomon and family, to which he’s thankful for how God has molded them during the process.

When asked what inspired him to accept the responsibility to be the resident Pastor in Tiaong, he answered, “It is simply my desire to win souls for our Lord JESUS CHRIST, which I believe is the ultimate duty of every minister who’s called to serve God. My focus now is to seek for souls who have the willingness to accept the Word and to care for those who have newly accepted JESUS as their Lord and Savior.”
